Our Story
Before there was ever a business, there was a love for waffles. As a young boy, Wally visited his family in Poland. In the village of Solina, he was struck by an enticing aroma. He investigated. In the distance a sign read “GOFRY.” He saw a small waffle cart and tried a waffle. He was hooked.
Back home in Chicago, Wally was walking through a department store with his father. On a shelf sat a 2-Square Belgian waffle iron. Immediately, the memory of that waffle stand in Poland triggered a fire. Normally a conservative spender of consumer products, Wally’s father did not hesitate to purchase the waffle iron.
A few years later, Wally scoured through some old kitchen cabinets for an item and came across the dusty waffle iron. As if he came across a lost treasure, he instantly felt a strong desire to make waffles. With no culinary background, Wally experimented with waffle recipes to the satisfaction of family and friends. This would prove to be the perfect catalyst to a future endeavor he'd never dream he would be doing.
Shortly thereafter, Wally’s Waffles was born. He spent over a year spreading the word and refining the Liege waffle recipe which is always in the works. With the growing popularity, he was slangin waffles with the help of his mother, sister, and buddy, Joe.
Most importantly, we have the utmost gratitude to all the friends who came to the rescue along the way. We continue to provide this "life-changing" waffle experience and dish out waffles at all kinds of events. Although we don’t claim to have it all figured out, we strive to provide an excellent product and service that brings a complete sense of joy!
